Meilleur fish and chips à Leeds

We nipped in to Murgatroyds for a Friday evening meal en route back from the airport. Understandably this place has a massive reputation and was incredibly busy (as they should be on a Friday night!) Parking was fairly straightforward but we arrived at about 5pm so a bit before the evening rush. Tables were packed but we were seated relatively quickly Going inside is a little like stepping back in time 30 years but in the best way possible, it’s really quite charmingly traditional in decor and I quite like that the style has been maintained so well after all this time. I ordered a small fish and chips while my husband had scampi and fish and chips. Portion sizes were exceptionally generous and even though I ordered a “small”, I couldn’t finish mine! The menu has everything you’d expect from a traditional fish and chip restaurant and quite a bit more, and it was great to see special offers for senior citizens. That being said, it is definitely not a cheap meal out. While I think their reputation justifies a bit of a premium, it was rather more expensive than I had expected. My meal was good, but my fish was a little dry which was disappointing given the price. The batter was lovely and light and crisp however. My husband’s scampi was really nice and I think I’d order that instead next time. I wish I had saved room to try one of the desserts as we saw some fantastic retro looking sweets coming out for other tables! We will probably visit again if we are in the area.

We’ve just moved into the area and have quickly become regulars at Murgatroyd’s and it’s no wonder because the food they serve is delicious big generous portions and priced very fairly. this visit we had the pleasure of being served by Chloe who was very pleasant and diligent. She made sure we felt welcomed and was very bright and cheerful. We absolutely love coming here and are happy to keep coming back.

Usually nice but last visit the fish was so over cooked , took a lot to cut , was rubbery. Didn’t complain as was with friends for a long overdue catch up but won’t be returning anytime soon. Visit was 2nd March, not sure if others had same experience . It was 3pm and food may have been made hours before ?

One of the best fish and chip restaurants around very popular with people of all ages generous helpings even on the pensioners menu the fish is white and chunky with a crispy batter and you could make a lovely butty out of the chips if you wanted to reasonable parking space sometimes have to wait to be seated but it's worth it friendly service and agood selection from the sweet trolley if by any chance you are still hungry you can't do better for land and sea

Went the other day after leaving the airport, both the takeaway and the restaurant had lines out of the door. The staff were lovely and very efficient, the food was fresh and crunchy too.
